It's become a tradition on the weekends to make home made pizzas because we have the time to make the dough in the morning and then leave it to rise in the day. They're so cheap and incredibly delicious. This recipe is for a high water content pizza dough which is perhaps a bit more difficult to work with at first, but the more you do it the better they get and the more money you'll save.
Cor Mike's a great cook. He comes up with all kinds of meal ideas and one day I think he should write a book. In the mean time, I'm a very lucky lady who has him as my personal chef while I audio type in the evenings to earn us extra money.
Here is our first budget meal. It comes to a quite hefty total of £6.34 but this is assuming that you need to buy all the ingredients new. It does not assume you already have milk, or flour, or onions and garlic etc in your kitchen already. Future meals will assume you have these stock ingredients as they are usual bought on batch (e.g. more than one garlic, more than one onion etc).
For the cause of saving money for the trip, we are setting ourselves a strict weekly food shop budget challenge!
We aim to spend £40 or less per week on food for two people (plus up to £10 top of shop mid week) to make a total of £50 for two people. That's 42 meals. Totally doable.
