We are continuing our training by beginning to wild camp in the mountains of Scotland, mixed with a good hiking trip. In this instance, we left work at 5pm on a Friday and got a coach up to Arrochar and just started hiking up the mountain towards the Cobbler. We then did three mountains the following day in time to catch the 8pm coach back to Glasgow for a really well deserved shower.
I can't recommend the concept of microadventures enough. They were a concept created by Alastair Humphreys, the adventurer, and there's now a book available for your perusal and inspiration.
P.s. if you are already into hiking, or you're thinking of getting into it then maybe do what we do. Take a spare couple of plastic bags and pick up litter on your way down. Let's keep the mountains as clean as we can.
